The Communications Center serves as the hub of the day to day operations of the Police Department, Sheriff's Department and both City and County Fire Departments. During emergency situations communications becomes the center of activity for both police and fire.

The communications staff is primarily responsible for nine emergency 911 lines, one seven digit administrative line, three direct dial personnel lines, and a total of seventeen radio frequencies that include police, sheriff, fire, animal control and court security.

In addition to these primary responsibilities Communications enters and retrieves data from NCIC and maintains the outstanding arrest warrant database for all of Chaves County.
