The Technical Services Unit (TSU) is a specialized unit within the Criminal Investigation Division that is responsible for locating, collecting and processing of evidence at major crime scenes. TSU is responsible for all major crime scene processing, photography, and forensic evidence gathering and handling. TSU is supervised by one Sergeant and currently has 1 sworn Detective and 2 highly trained civilian technicians. All personnel assigned to TSU have recieved extensive training in digital photography, blood spatter interpretation, crime scene reconstruction and DNA evidence collection just to name a few.

 

The Property Unit is responsible for intake, tracking and secure storage of thousands of pieces of evidence submitted to the unit each year.  The Property unit is also responsible for processing evidence for transfer to the state crime lab, as well as, releasing items back to the rightful owners.

 

During the 2011 calendar year the Roswell Police Department's Property Unit processed more than 200,000 pieces of evidence using state of the art compurterized bar code systems. The Property Unit is comprised of 1 Sworn Detective and 1 civilian technician. Supervision is provided by the TSU Sergeant.
